First project on my '67

Well, seems my truck has chosen this for me. My first task will be to flush the fuel tank. The previous owner told me the truck had sat in an older ladies barn for nine years before he purchased it. He also said the motor would seem to not open up like it should, so after some observation I noticed the clear fuel filter would run completely dry from time to time then spurt out chunks of rust and other foriegn material. Anyways don't think this will be a real dificult task to overtake. Only thing is im not sure what to flush the tank out with, read a couple articles about muratic acid, others have said high pressure water hose. Any members here done this and have suggestions on what would be the best method to flush my fuel tank?

Will be doing the whole system, new rubber where needed and will blow the steel lines.

i did this and put a bunch of marbles in the tank. DON'T DO THIS!
i thought the marbles would roll around a kick up any foreign stuff and then the hose would wash them out. It took me about 2 hours and 4 beers to shake them all out of the tank! when i was done it was great though. be sure and blow out your lines too!

i changed rubber and blew out the steel, just remember to check different tank for rust, my uncle told me there is something to put in tank to coat it , will get back on what it is and where to get

There has to be someone on here that can sell you a good tank for less than the cost of a tank sealer kit.

I just recently used it on a motorcycle gas tank. Just mix it up, pour it in, then pour out the excess. It seems pretty pricey, but the last thing you want is a cheap gas tank sealer chip/flaking off in a couple of months.

you can also get a suburben tank and put it under truck instead of behind seat

I have the factory tank out of my 71 I would let you have for $100.00 + shipping.
It has the sending unit and the vent tubes with it. It even has the clips to install it with. Oh yea it has the filler neck also.
I put a 42 gal. in the bed for long trips. I can take a picture of it if you want.

If I took them you wouldn't see much because it is under my bed cover, and I covered it up to make it quiter.It's out of a 93 Suburban so I would have a baffel tank for my fuel injection.
