This weekend, I had my kids in my truck while I was getting a key made. The truck was off, and my keys were in my pocket.

I looked over at the kids in the truck and they are opening and closing the power windows.

What the heck??

When I got home, I double checked and sure enough, if I turn the ignition on and then off and remove the key, the power windows keep functioning.

I wonder if there's some kind of a timer that lets them work for a couple of minutes after the ignition is turned off or something. Or.. Is there something wired up wrong?

I am still trying to figure out what the slow drain is. Haven't had time to spend in the last couple of weeks tracking it down but after seeing this, I am beginning to wonder if it's related.

This is on a '77 Silverado 20, power windows & locks, pretty much loaded as far as options go.

I'm wondering if the PO may have wired in the power windows with the power locks since the locks have constant power to them all the time. Was the power options added later on? If so then they were wired together.

On your slow drain I would take a test light and place it between the battery and your + cable. Then take out your fuses one at a time and see what makes it go off. There should be a start to help find it.

I'd bet even money that you just found your problem. I had an 84 silverado with power windows that didn't come with the "always on" option. If you look I bet its been rewired/crossed and there's your slow power drain. Pull the fuse for the pwr windows and see what happens.

Little story here about power windows on the 79 K5 that we use to have. It was my wifes DD.

I go out of town like 700 miles out of town. I get a call from my pitite 5ft tall 90 lb wife that NONE of the power windows work and you guessed it the fronts were down.

So when I get home I start looking for the problem. Somehown the fues box got kicked up top (still trying to figure this out) and the harness for the power windows and power tail gate plug in there.

It is VERY easy to move the harness too a BAT location and go straight hot on the windows and by pass the power window fuse.

You would think that the indows would draw no power as long as they are not being raised or lowered but you never know. I bet you just found your power drain.
