wiring in an engine
I need to wire in this 350 to fire the beast. Can aanyone give me some info on what wires go where? It is an 82, 350 with hei and a passenger side alternator. Totally opposite from my inline 6 with points and a drivers side alternator. Now, I am a rookie for wiring, so make it as simple as possible pictures would be a huge help to. I could use a pic of wires that go to and from the HEI and starter. As well, where does the wiring from the alternator come from? As always, I would like to thank you guys in advance for any help you can offer.

Is the engine 1982 or is the truck? This makes a big difference, b/c if you need to do wiring on an 1982 truck I would be lost, but if it goes to one of the 1967-72 I might be able to help.

i bought a wiring harness from Brothers to do mine and it was much easier and cleaner and resonably priced, you can also get the hei wires on it to and if you going from int to ext alternator the kit is also available. Just get it for the V8 with the options u currently have, i found it to be pretty self explanatory on what went for what. And its also factory color coded.

if you are just looking to start it run a wire from the battery put a split in it and on one of the splits run it to the distributer and put a starter switch in the other one and run it down to the starter, hook up your cables and vwoila, thats what i did as a tempory thing on my flat bed to keep the engine from just sitting
