Hood ornament

Does anyone know what the first year a hood ornament (I assume that it was the square ornament that either spelled out CHEVROLET or had a bow tie) was available on 73-87 C/'s? My 76 has a hood that has an ornament base on it but I cannot find anything on hood ornaments on these trucks prior to the hood-design change in 1981. I am fairly certain the hood has been replaced, though no other sheet metal shows signs of paint or exchange. I assume the hinges were not lubriacted properly, or at all, and...........

That having been said, and I will post on the parts board, does anyone have a hood ornament originally intended for use with the 73-80 hood that they would like to sell?

I dont know what year's came with them.....But!

I just saw one in the j/y the other day but i don't know it's condition cuz my truck doesn't have one and it's not something i pay too close attention to.

I may be going back tomarow and if it's still there i'll get it if it's in good shape.

Personally id'e fill the hole and leave it off i don't care for them at all but that's just me!

I think it went with the level of trim the truck had. I've seen them on lots of trucks but most i think were silverado trim level.

79 had one my 75 doesn, the 77 I got a hood of doesn't. I
I have heard 78 was the first year for them. That make sense because that was a body change year for some of the trucks. K5's got rear foot well and gas doors that year. Changed to blade style fuse box as well.
