Just curious. I got a new PCV for my truck and the parts guys told me to hook it up to the back of my 1406 on the base plate. I guess that would be full unported vacuum? Does this sound OK, because the old one was hooked to the factory air cleaner and I have since changed air cleaners.

PCV valve should hook up to a full 3/8" vacuum port on the carb. I am not sure what kind of hookup you had before but a pcv will not function correctly hooked to the air cleaner.

Hook it up from the front of the carb. It goes in between air/mixture screws.mine is going to a pcv valve on the valve cover. I can show you a pic later when I get home. I have my power brakes going to the one in the back of the carb. Then I also have one going from the manifold to a pcv valve on my valve cover.

Hey Tanker350 if I read you right you have 2 PCV valves which is a no-no. With this setup you have no way to pull air into motor. The way the PCV system works is that the PCV valve pulls the blowby fumes out of the motor inturn pulling clean air thru a tube connected from your other valve cover to your air cleaner or thru a filter in your valve cover. I believe you will find it will run better with only 1 PCV. If I read wrong-disregard my "advice".

jhow is right, if you have 2 of them, then they will not be able to pull the fumes out of the engine.
A breather can be routed to the air filter, that way the air getting sucked in to replace the air the PVC evacuates will be clean air. The PVC/filtered air breather is actuially an emmisions controll deal, and some states require you to have it run this way to pass the visual inspection.

So it's ok to hook it up to the back of the carb (brakes are on the front) and have a breather on the other valve cover? Just checking.

yeah, it's OK. Laft, right...doesn't really matter. As long as air can get in and air getts sucked into the PCV into the carb through manifold vacume...then it'll all be good.
