Places to wheel

Is there is any places around St. Louis Mo to go 4 wheeling. I know of a small spots but lately its just been construction sites and front yards. I know about St. Joe state park around farmington, but that is all sand that A: ruins any moving parts on you truck, B: stratches the hell out of your paint, and C: isn't to exciting (NO MUD). This causes you to fly though the water to get muddy and end up destroying your starter and hydrolocking your motor. With no starter you can't blow the water out of your engine with the compression. (My roommate did this to his truck, I hydrolocked my last truck but was able to save it, both at St. Joe) Any suggestions in the outlanding areas because soon I am just going to play in Forest Park!
