Axelshaft

Ok I was thinking of getting a new rearend and its a 6 lug. So I was wondeing if I find one that is only a 5 lug can I just take the axleshaft out of the rearend I have now and put it into the new one? thanks

or would it be eaiser to put a new ring and pinion into the rear end I have now?

Assuming that it is the same rear housing and the same axle width yes. Might try updating your profile to indicate where you are. Might surprise you the offers that your neighbors will make if they know where you are. I have a rear end that you might be interested in, but don't know where you are.
