Another progress report - Project 68 (pics!)
Got alot done this past week!!!
Got the new seats installed. eBay specials out of an 01 or 02 Chevy. I wanted a set of these for the integrated seat belts. Install was simple, just locate and drill. Had to make a short bracket for the outer front holes, but it was easy: Got the dash cluster together. The truck had just the simple light only dash, no gauges. Bought a complete cluster off of eBay real cheap, cleaned them all up and put on a set of white overlays. I love those! Bought a new bezel, and installed the tach into the whole mess. Found out later that the same tach can be had to match the new gauges. Also got a complete underdash harness out of a gauge truck, cleaned that up and installed. Also robbed a couple of wires from the front light harness from our parts truck to complete the harness swap. All gauges work just fine now. I'll give this tach to Dad for his 70 and get one that matches the gauges later. But for now, I like it!! Got the engine close to finished last night. Need to flush the radiator and paint it, get another lower radiator hose, wire looms, a few minor things. Recap of the engine: GM stock 350 crate motor (250-260 HP, something like that.), Comp Cams 268H cam, Performance Products dual-plane intake, Edelbrock 1406 600 cfm carb, HEI w/Mallory coil, stock ram horn exhaust manifolds. 3 speed on the column, 3.73 rear Still need to do the brakes, install the new rear bumper after I get brackets, and redo the dual exhaust (it only has 2" pipe. Plan on using ceramic coated block huggers, Flowmasters, and 2 1/2" pipe.). Next will be to relocate the gas tank. Have the kit, just need the time! More to follow in the coming days........... Can't wait!!!!!

I like those seats as well. Do you still have the in-cab fuel tank? How is the room between the seat and the steering wheel? |

Yeah, the tank is still there, for now. I have a kit coming, but won't do that until this winter. I have every bit as much room as I did with the original bench, if not a small bit more. They couldn't have fit any better!
