Look what I got in... (and other random things)

Hmm..... What's this?

Bowtie Overdrives TH700, 2200 Stall converter, new tranny lines, and set-up kit.

She's waiting for it to be put in.... (doggie in the corner too)

After getting shot with Airshoft guns by my friends after a LAN party, I blocked them in w/ my truck. It was a little GEO so no contest. They backed up and tried to peel out to no avail but a squeek. So I flip a b*tch and gun it rosting the tire all the way down the road. I burned out!!!!!!! W/ a 305!!! WOW!!!! (I was really surprised)

I just went through SMOG check and passed! WWWhhhheeeewww! Chainged the oil and cleaned my air filter before going in. Not to mention put my stock oil breather tube on.

Stage 2 - No plans for the engine yet, way too many other things to fix and repair like the damn passanger lock solenoid that only unlocks 1/2 the time but locks every time. I'm going to put on the rebuilt stock carb I got from our gigantimous swap meet we had a couple months ago. I really need to see if I can get better milage out of this thing. 9mpg w/ a 305 just doesn't cut it.

It is $1020 but by the time it is dropped in the truck it will be more like $2000. I have to upgrade the torque converter, pan, lines, cooler, flexplate, starter..... etc.

Wait till you do a burn out with the 700R4 and 305. My truck lights them really easy.

What type of tires are you running? I think I've seen them at Discount tire.

Kuhmo Ecsta STX 275/60 15 - I LOVE them - especially compared to my old Firestone SS20's. They are a great tire for a cheap price. I got them for $80 a tire!

Heck no! I wouldn't let anyone touch my truck when I can do it myself. That price above is installing everything myself. I don't want to know what it would be if I had a shop put it in.

OK, so what is the $800 charge for? Since your truck isn't lowered, the tranny swap won't be so bad. But that converter that came with that BTO tranny is just a normal stocker you can get at AutoZone. I recommend a Yank or TCI 2500 stall.

Hmm, that PDQ Brand though, I dunno about that...2200 is not high at all, but I imagine it will be ok. Hmm..
So, $1000 was for the Transmission ALONE, then the other $800 is for the Converter/Mount/Cooler/Flexplate/Starter/Wires
Converter = $250
Mount = $50
Cooler = $50
Flexplate = $25
Starter = $125
Wires = $25
Hmm....

Hey, that converter is really high. Your cruise RPMs will be too low for it to lock up!! You need 3.73 gears or a smaller tire. The converter may lock up but it will be right on the edge. With a 3.08 a 1800-2000 stall is better suited. You may need to cruise up to 75 MPH to lock the converter then back of slightly to cruise speed so the converter stays locked.

STUPID QUESTION ALERT!!

What is a torque converter anyways? Some sort of device that locks up and applies direct engine power to the tranny or something?

My understanding is for a daily driver is to have the torque converter lock right below your cruise range. I drive a 1800 stall on my daily drive. I drive in 3rd in town mostly to lock the converter and save gas!! Every little bit helps. Now if I had deep gears and a stout SB or BB the 2800 stall would be killa.

I either drive at 45 without overdrive or do 85 on the freeway. I don't think I'll go as slow as 75 on the freeway

Tim - You forgot locktite, hoses for the tranny lines, mounting brackets, bolts - not to mention the starter I'm getting is $200 - flexplate is $65, bolts are $5, Converter $250, shipping $100, cooler $55, hoses $75, and a couple other things like cleaner, new carb gasket, FLUID ($20) dipstick $65, deep pan $125. Get what I am saying about another $1000?

G - I DO NOT want this tranny locking in 3rd EVER. That would kill the sucker fast like the stock one I have. Bowtie Overdrive's only locks in 4th.

why do you say that? The tranny will not lock in 3rd automatically but with a high stall converter, if you need to stay in 3rd you will be very glad that you have the manual lockup switch.

Why would you NOT want it to lock in 3rd? Going up grades or pulling trailers I lock mine in 3rd all the time

The converter lock up harness I got from TCI lets you lock it up in 2nd 3rd and overdrive. They make no mention of that being hazardous to the tranny. The throttlevalve cable kit and install kit I bought from Bowtie Overdrives makes no mention of that either.

I have a 2600rpm Stall Yank Converter in my vette, and I HONESTLY can't even tell it's not stock. If I'm TRYING to watch when it locks up, it's right around 41mph.
Stock 350 with Headers
700R4
3.07 Gears, 26" Tires
