Radio cuts out on bumps or door slam
What could be causing this?
Please help electrically-inclined 73-87'ers... Thanks.

I think he's right, but I think it's more likely to be the hot wire -- ground is through the frame, obviously. It could also be the connector at the back of the stereo which has the speaker wires.

I would just get back there and follow each wire and make sure all conections and grounds are good

like the others said bad ground and you can never have too many grounds so concieveably you could take another piece of wire and ground it to the dash and then tie it into the wiring harness at the radio plug. Also make sure the radio plug is nice and tight in its socket there

If it is not the factory radio, check the hot wire. Many times someone will run a new wire to the fuse box and connect it poorly.

Thanks for the help.
I figured I would try and fix this while the dash pad is out of the truck.
