rebuilding front driveshaft 3/4 ton 4x4
Hi All,
I am ignorant on working on 4x4, so I tried to take my front driveshaft from my 67 3/4 ton 4x4 suburban to a driveline shop, and the guy quoted me a rebuild price of $400!!!!! That just seems way out of line to me as I have spent $150-$200 for new driveshafts. What do you other 4x4er do? Is it easy to rebuild these? I know how to replace ujoints, but there is a knuckle piece on this shaft that appears to be shot. Thanks!!! |

The slip yoke on my 72 K20 is toast so I called to get a quote. 150.00 for the complete rebuild out the door. Just some info for ya.
Dan.

Its been years, and I had the shop I used to work at send it in, but it was around $100 or $125 if memory serves.
However I have a K10, not a K20. Are they different?

when i first got my truck, i had to get the frt driveshaft rebuilt. it was around $100 and some change to get a new cardan joint, repainted, and new spicer u joints, but I had to put it in myself. i'd say go somewhere else.

When I had my front driveshaft worked on, it was like $110 to have it lengthened, balanced and new u-joints.

LMC has them for $150. Local shops will do them $150 or $250 for two, new.
