Windshield wiper troubles

I installed a new washer pump and a wiper switch. When I turn on the wipers, I also get the washer... tend to use a lot of fluid that way!

Any idea what wires I may have crossed? It is a 68 Chevy, C10, long step.

Thanks!

It is the type of switch that you have to push to get fluid (normally), and twist for wiper operation?

your switch could be bad, mine did almost the exact opposite, I had to turn the knob and hold down the squirters to get my wipers to move!! It turned out that on these switches that the back is only held on by a couple of crimped places on the housing, well the back had pushed through. Yours may be engaged (pushed in) still turn it on and try pulling out on the knob and see if that cancels it out.

Putter: Yes, push to get fluid and twist to engage wipers. Except today

Black and Blue: I will try that, maybe it is stuck in the "in and on" position. Any idea how to test the switch? It is new...

I hope I have the right switch, looks just like the one that came out... and I ordered it from GMC Paul a few months ago. I will have a chance to play with the switch tonight.
