it did? i thought all V8's were orange and all inlines were blue. could be wrong tho.

Sometime in the mid to late '70s I think. My 1980 350 4bolt main block was blue.

I bought a new custom camper model in 66 with 327 and it was GREY. What color were 67 327's???? John

my 67 250 is orange and that's the original, from the factory color...

There's also an earlier 292 on an engine stand at a JY that's the same color.

either 76-78 they changed to blue (it was 76, 77, or 78, but i cant remember excactly which one) then in 85 they went to black

HAH! I knew mid to late '70s...

A buddy of mine is a real F**D nut. When he saw my engine recently he was giving me a hard time because the block was blue. He even went as far as to say it was a ford engine. I told him that's impossible because it's not in backwards (distributor is actually where it's supposed to be).

That shut him up.

my brothers 79 elcamino was blue at one point but you cant tell it,but he got a new motor and it is black

I think 1978 is when they were painted blue.

They were all orange except those mid-70's smog motors couldn't breathe so they turned blue.:p
