my step moms 91 s-10 blazer lost the ABS twice, and that was expensive to replace. so we said screw it. not sure about the 2.8 and 5 speed, hers was 4.3 and auto. they arent that bad of a little truck... and besides, easy swap for a 350!

The 2.8 V6 is not the best motor out there.

If it is really cheap, go for it. If it goes out, drop in a small block.

http://www.s10forum.com/index.php?s= is a good S-10 site. I've had a couple of S-Series over the years and with a 4.3 they are good little truck. My favorite is my 350 converted 82 S-10. The only "little" truck left in my yard.

2.8 is bad

4.3 truck are great. Be prepared to change the engine if it's a 2.8. They were bad about BREAKING crankshafts. I know someone who put in 2 auto parts replacement 2.8's, and they eventually went bad. (under 30,000 miles each) He finally sold it with a newly installed junkyard engine. Just my 2 cents.

Well the engine was replaced 20 000km(not sure how many miles that works out to) and a new clutch 6000km ago.

Im looking at it as a higway driviver, if i get into this program i will be driving 700km every 2months and dont wanna put those miles on my truck and dont wanna spend that much money on gas

My S10 Blazer was a 4.3 w/ 5 speed and it got worse gas mileage than my full size C1500 with same combo. I averaged 18-19 in town /highwaywith the Blazer. I never had anything with the 2.8, but I know several folks driving old S10s/Blazers and they are still going strong. Their's were a lot less powerful than my 4.3 though. I didn't like the Blazer because I felt cramped in it (6'1"), but other than that it was decent vehicle.
