Two questions - wood bed, and roof marker lights
Two questions for the experts, as I look for a new project new questions come to mind.
1. I don't like the cab marker lights on the roof. How much work would it be to get rid of them. Is there a major hole under the light assy? What have some of you done, or recommend. 2. I am finding trucks with new paint and new painted metal bed strips, but old original wood still inside. How hard is it to replace the wood with a new wood kit? Can I change out the wood strips without removing the box from the frame?

If your clearance lights are factory originals, then it would be pretty difficult to delete them, there should be a raised portion on the roof for them.

On replacing the wood, it can be done with the box on the truck. The difficulty will be getting the old bolts out. A cut off wheel will be needed probably since all of the fasteners are carriage head.

If it's a set of dealer installed or aftermarket lights, the hole will be approx 3/4 inch diameter with screw holes fore and aft to hold the base to the roof. This can be fixed, but why delete the lights?

CPNE - thanks for replying. I have just recently seen an unmolested 67 GMC long step, and it had factory clearance lights on it, and the roof had raised metal for the lights to sit on, so I guess there is an exception to every rule. To answer your question, it is my opinion that the roof clearance lights are tacky looking - kind of like a Peterbilt with lights all over it. Each to his own I guess.

Yes, to each his own. I will be adding cab lights to my truck.
Funny world, huh?

would that be the dorky chrome ones that were dealer installed in later years, or the actual kind with the bumps?

i have to agree on the 2wd cab light thing being kinda strange, that said, i'd still do it to mine.
here are my 4x4 cab lights, they are $5 TSC specials, if it is this type they take 3 holes, two about 1/8" and one about 3/16"
