An idea, any body tried it yet?

Say you wanted a removable top on your pick up, not Blazer, but pick up. Also say, just for kicks, that you've got rust in you firewall and windshield frame. I wonder how it would work to find a firewall and frame from a blazer, some cutting and welding, and a blazer half top. I saw over on the blazer board where Gee_Emm had the front section he was offering a guy who needed a new windshield frame.

Has anybody triead anything similar to this? Any pics floating around out there?

See here and here. I don't have anymore information though, but if you find any, let me know, because I've been toying with the idea myself.

Tynee,

I've been thinkin about this one for awhile. The main concern I've had is the structural integrity of the cab since the b-pillars and roof tie everything together

I wouldnt think there would be much of a problem structurally, there is alot less reinforcement on a Blazer and they stay together. I would add some rocker box type of bracing underneath and build a tubing frame behind the seat to keep the back of the cab in place. I think if someone was inclined enough a removeable hard top would be fairly simple to build. Might take a couple years of figuring though. Go for it :p
