lap/shoulder belts
I have a 76 Silverado C/20 with most options. Even has the passenger side visor vanity mirror. This truck has lap belts only, never had anything else. I have seen some 73's/4's/5's and other 76's with shoulder belts. Were they an option? My truck is a manual trans and I have not seen any 73-76 manual trans trucks with shoulder belts.
Thanks

With respect to the '73-'87 generation Chevy pickups, integrated lap/shoulder belts were first factory installed as standard equipment starting with all trucks built after January 1, 1976. Early production '76 pickups (i.e. those built between August 1 and December 31, 1975) were not scheduled to receive the shoulder belts prior to the '76 calandar year, nor were they even optional. However, it is possible that some were, in fact, installed prior to the planned 1/1/76 starting date. Although factory installed integrated lap/shoulder belts were not available for '73, '74, and '75 models, shoulder belts were officially catalogued and available as a dealer-installed accessory. Since a 77 truck is over 25 years old now, it is posible a cab swap could have been performed, or a interior change was done, etc...who knows. I am pretty sure the Government mandated 3 point belts around 76 or so, which would coinside with Kens statement. For the record, my 73 has lap belts only, as did my 75 PU I had. Now my 76 PU, 78 PU, and 77 Blazer all have/had 3 point belts.

since before new
My step dad ordered this truck in 1975 and it was built in 9/75, but not delivered until 1/76. I remember the day it came home and I know it has not had ANY modifications.
As of this morning the odo is at 61,616.1 It is the original miles and the only sheet metal that has been changed was the hood because it bent when the Chevy dealer in Covina CA was servicing the truck, and lubricating the hinges....back in about 1982. Other than the hood it has all the original (and shiny) paint, tilt, dual tanks, A/C (recently converted to R-134-A) 4-speed, 454, pass side "GM" visor vanity mirror, Silverado pkg, camper special 8200, Fact tach and full gauges, factroy sliding rear window, tu-tone paint, 4.56 rear axle, w/s antenna AND pole type on the rt fender. I can remember him grimmacing the fact that the truck could not be ordered with power windows and locks....that came along for 1977 and we heard about that issue again...

I got lost for a second and forgot you were the person who started the thread, forgive my momentary stupidity.
