1968 factory chevy, 3 speed overdrive

As many of you know, I have a number of parts I am trying to sell on the parts forum. Well, while digging thru our stuff I found a 68 3 speed overdrive tranny. I am probably going to sell it, but have no clue as to the value of this thing. It is my understanding that they are fairly rare.

Any thoughts as to what its worth, or better yet, is anybody interested in it? I build everything for big horsepower, and I understand that this type of tranny would not take the abuse I give things. Any thoughts or advice on that? I do have a Nova Wagon that I had thought about putting it in, but it has a 400 horse 327 in it.

Thanks in advance,

Jay

This has nothing to do with transmissions, but isn't NOVA the company that made that little robot in the movie Short Circuit? Johnny 5 IS alive. Sorry.

250 for just the tranny. 350 if all the wireing, cables and selinoid is with it. And YES they are rare.

i don't think a 3 speed would survive behind 300 hp, let alone 400. i think they would do ok behind a stock engine (except BB, but there are some rare BB/3 spd combos out there).

they are rare, but nobody wants one. most people want a very powerful engine, and this tranny doesn't fit that plan.

i, however, would like to try building a slightly modified six with the 3 spd OD one day, all in a 67 or 68 stepside. it would be different and get good gas mileage. however, there is that whole money issue...lol

They are about as rare as a rust free pinto in Ohio...and about as desirible too.
They are very week units, and pretty much obsolete, which sucks when trying to locate parts for it.
I'm sure there is sone one wanting one though.
