A few c-10 and c-20 question

First is a c-20 a 3/4 ton? Is a 3/4 ton a worse daily driver then a 1/2 ton? Or is gas about the same? I want to buy a long bed 1/2 ton or 3/4 and lift it and go off-roading. So I wanted a 3/4 ton to be stronger. But if I buy new lift spring wont they be weaker then 3/4 ton springs? Or can I buy 3/4 lift springs. I want a 6 in lift with some 35's. I dont plan on any real seriouse offrorading but when im out there i want to drive it hard. So is a 3/4 ton not a good idea for a daily driver? I wont drive very far and will do some thing for better gas mialage. Also will a manual trans give me better gas then a automatic?

An idea of what I was thinking. Also do any of you have black trucks? Do they really show alot more scratches?

That's a good looking truck. If mine were a 4X4, that is how I would want mine set up.

Black does show scratches and dirt, which is fine if you like to wash your truck a lot (or don't care).

they make 3/4 ton lift kits, nd i dont really think there is that much of a difference between 1/2 and 3/4 ton gas mileage. it all depends on the size of the engine, tranny, and gear ratio/ tire size. i know my truck get a ton better gas mileage now with the 38's then it ever did with the 33's. i wouldnt buy a black truck especially in az because u will never beable to keep ot clean and the sun will fade it quick. also if you want to take it off road black will show every imperfection, and it doesnt look good unless your body is perfect.
a c20 is a 3/4 ton and a c10 is a half ton, but if u want a 4x4 you want a k10/k20. the 3/4 ton will be stronger frame and axle wise but the springs will be stiffer than a half ton.
also generally a manual yields better gasmileage then an auto.
but as always is the case, it is whatever is the best truck in your price range should be the one you get. good luck. and i hope some of this helps.

I have a black truck and I don't notice any differences in scratches. But I don't let it get scrached. All the spots on it now went to the bare metal so you see it.

black shows EVERYTHING.

Arent 3/4 tons usually geared lower for towing sometimes?

I've got a C25 (GMC 3/4 ton, Chevy has the C20) it has 3.73 gears, a 350, HD springs, a TH400 and a very stiff ride. I personally like it nice and stiff rather than all lax like a 1/2 ton. Wouldn't be so great on a long road trip, but is nice around the city. I personally like the tall proud stance of a 3/4 ton more than a 1/2 ton, but since you are lifting it, then either will be good.

If you are going to lift it 6in with 35's you want the 3/4ton alxes. BTW. That Black truck is SWEET!

If I get a 4x4 it will be 3/4 ton. But I may just get a half ton 2wd. I still dont know.

if you're considering going off road with it at all, skip the 2wd.

If I get a 2wd I wont offroad. It will be a fast truck. But if I get a 4x4 I will be offroad all the time.

I have a C-20 with 31's that I'm rebuilding. Sometimes I take it off road, but not serious stuff. It sets up pretty good, and I get decent gas mileage(350 backed by a 700R4 Overdrive). The ride is a bit harsh, but thats normal with the 3/4 ton.
