What is difference between blazer and truck bucket seats?
I waded through 6 inches of mud today on a junk yard crawl and found 2 blazers and a 72 GMC surburban. What I found interesting is front bumer guards on the surburban and the two blazers that had bucket seats but no consoles.
What is the difference between the seats designed for the blazers and those for the trucks? Thanks Brian |

Truck buckets sit on a bench style frame while blazer bucket are there own seperate seats, I think. But maybe the truck buckets change through the years.

there are 2 kinds of truck buckets, 67-68 and 69-72. 69-72 are basicaly the same as the blazer seats. the 67-68 are a lil bit harder to find and are a little more versatile, IMO, and can seat 3 ppl if necessary.

There are two different kinds of buckets in blazers....Regular and utility....the regular ones are the same as the trucks but the passenger side bracket is different.....the utility ones have metal backs and are wider...you probably would not want these for a truck....you can't use a console with them

The main difference between regular bucket seat blazer seats and truck seats is the brackets that mount the seat on. Heres a pic of blazer seat mounts.
The sliding type right side ones are used in both truck and blazer, its the pasenger side brackets which are different between trucks and blazers. Blazer brackets below

Heres a pic of 69-72 regular buckets... you can tell what year the buckets are from by there shape as compared to the auxillary blazer buckets. These seats are from 69 0r 70 ... a little tip via the single scrolled pattern in the seat upholstery. 71-72 would have 2 scrolls... not all buckets had upholstery with scrolls though.
Anyway here is a pic of regular truck buckets with the correct seat brackets for a truck. Note the metal passenger side ones.. there fixed to the floor and the bucket and do not move or allow seat to slide forward as the drivers side brackets do. Again I'll say the drivers side brackets are the same in trucks and blazers using regular type buckets.

oh might as well posts some 67 -68 type truck buckets... these are 67 ... you can tell by the wider pattern stitching than a 68.

And you might come acrooss a 67-68 suburban set of buckets... I want a set of these if you find it.. I only need the center console if possible....if someone wants to trade consoles from a 67-68 truck for a suburban console I can do that also.

Great pics and descriptions Rod, thanks! If they aren't there already, this info would go well in the FAQ.

Learned something new
Great idea for FAQ section. Now to further the conversation you hsowed us the 67 and different 68 stitch patterns. I assume the custom and cst door panels matched the seats for each year? Do the suppliers sell one or the other year style and matching seat upholstery covers?
thanks.

I'm not sure on the door panels... never owned a 68 yet.. well I did actually but didnt have a cst interior.
I've seen both type arm rest in 68... the 67 type and the more common 69-71 block type. I know in 69 there were 2 series of door panels. Some had emblem insignia stamped into the vinyl, those were first series. I'll have to look though some pics for that detail perhaps on door panels.
