Thanks for your welcomes to this newby.
I now have a question.I crawled under the 68 C10 looking for things to fix and found the drive shaft rubber bearing that the rear section rides on, seems loose. There is about a 1/4 inch gap around the shaft and I don't believe this right. Are there replacements available? What kind of play should this have if any.
Enclose a pic lookinf forward from diff.

It should not have play in it. You can get replacements from any of the vendors, or a place like ECE, Chevy Duty, Brothers, etc...

If you go to any local parts store and they don't have that carrier bearing then they suck. You should be able to get a carrier bearing and thats what its called at any local parts store

I just bought one from shuck's pretty cheap and I believe it is a press fit...

I've had to replace the carrier bearing on my '72 twice in the last 9 yrs. They are available at auto parts houses as stated above, and are not real difficult to replace. They are not a press fit though, but may require some persuasion (I use a small 2 jaw puller) to remove if rusted to the drive shaft. The bearings I've found at parts stores are the China made Anchor brand, really wish I didn't have to use foriegn parts for my truck though.
