I have seen one done and it looked like a pain in the but to do. If your going to race it, then you should just put in a roll cage and that will stiffen it up plenty.

No need to make it stiffer for the street. IMO

ECE sells C-channel made to fit inside the frame rails but that will only work in the staight sections. You can weld or bolt it in

if you are going to box the frame for added strength, use some 1/8" to 3/16" plate to use as filler metal. Get some cardboard or construction paper board and make a template for the filler pieces. trace these out on your metal and cut to shape.

Here's where people will differ on opinion and need: where to weld the piece. some people like to weld it flush, some opt to leave a little ledge for mounting purposes. either way is cool.

one thing i would suggest but is not entriely necessaryis to leave tabs on your filler piece. then notch the frame to match these tabs, they will help hold the piece in place.

if you are going to box the frame merely for looks, you can go with a thinner filler metal. hope this helps! good luck!

PS when doing something like this, don't forget that certain things will be moved/changed to finish it. ie brake lines, fuel lines, wiring, etc....

More needed on longbeds ?

My longbed has a 402 and it torques the dog out of the frame. I thought about boxing or adding something like a cushioned crossbar..

Course it needed new cab rubbers etc too so that made it worse..
