67-68 vs. 69-72 lift kits?????
I have a lift kit for a 69-72 Chevy 4x4 and I'm looking at a '68 GMC K15, and I've been told that the 67-68 and the 69-72 Chevy's and GMCs' had different leaf springs, and that the lift kit I have won't fit the '68 GMC I'm looking at. Does anybody out there know whether or not this is accurate? If it is, I need to know who makes a lift kit for a 67-68 GMC/Chevy. Thanks!!

The rear springs are different in regards to overall length and location of the centering pin/bolt. The fronts are the same.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

i dont know if there is a differnece but i did a little searchin and came up with this:
http://www.rockymountainsusp.com/GM67-72.htm says rancho makes 2 seperate kits 67-67 and 69-72, superlift tuff country and rough country are 69-72 only, and the skyjacker kjit is for all 0f 67-72. so it looks like it all depends on who made your lift. i say just measure from the leaf spring mounting hole to the shackle and see if distance on the truck is the same as the spings you have on your truck. if they are the same then go for it! |

So the front springs for the lift kit that I have should work just fine, and since I'm using blocks in the rear for now I should just be able to use the blocks with the existing rear springs which appear to be in good shape?

Thanks for the advice guys. That's what I love about this site! I bought the lift kit for a '72 K10 project I was going to do, then found a '68 GMC, and the guy I bought the lift kit from told me it wouldn't fit the '68. Obviously, he didn't know what he was talking about.
