ok i go out today to work on the wiring of my truck, well i got the blinkers working my problem is that my left blinker works great but when i turn on my right blinker both blinkers come on very dim and both blink as if the emergency flashers where on, what could this be

Sounds like a bad ground somewhere...

Definitely something up with the turn signal switch. Could your hazard button be partially depressed?

This happens as some of the current reaches ground through the other light.

I agree with toomuchstuff you have a bad ground some where I would check ground conection at light buckets lot a times just tightening the screw a little will do it . Check right side first.

Hey, when you turn on that right blinker, do all 4 lights (front/back) blink dim? Once, I got a single element bulb into a double element outlet (taillight) and that happened. It fit, and the single 'nub' was able to touch both posts in the socket. When I would use that side on the signals, power would hit the little 'nub' on the lightbulb, and feed across to the running light post in the socket, thus lighting up all of my running lights, but they were dim and would blink. That is just a quick thought.

have also had a bulb cause the problem. Filament for the turn signal breaks, drops down on the taillight filament, and all the turn signals blink, although dimmer than normal because of the taillight circuit is blinking. Check the right bulbs, front and rear. probably front, unless all the lights come on with the brake light, then it's the rear.

Ground is also something to look at.

Had the exact same problem you stated about 2 months ago. All the dash lights inside the cab were blinking too. I tore about every wiring harness on that truck looking for a shorted wire. I even tore the dang fuse box apart thinking some wires were touching there. What it ended up being was the front turn signals that are in the bumper on my 71. The little socket they sit in is held in the body of the blinker by the metal on the back of the socket being bent down. This is a main ground point. The socket was just a little loose in there and it was causing power from the blinkers to jump across and go back through the headlight wiring causing everything dealing with my headlights to blink with the flasher. You can isolate which one is doing it by pulling the rubber connector apart thats in the radiator support. If you pull it apart and they quit blinking then jackpot thats your problem light. Just that for a thought but like they said I'd check the bulbs first.

I agree on checking the bulbs, I've had those "nubs" get mashed together and do the same thing.

sounds like a ground to me alos , i have them have bad grounds on my blazer and on my 57 , when you would step on the brake all the parking lights would come on lol
