WTB* T-221 Rockwell Transfer Case
I need a GOOD, complete ready-to-go transfer case. Recent rebuild okay, "low mileage" okay. I rebuilt the one I have but the gearset I have in it is mismatched and the whining is intolerable.
Needs to be shipped to PA, 18073. Thanks!

Can't help with a used x-fer case and don't know what you mean about a mis-matched gearset, but the whining you are hearing is normal for this model of transfer case.

I used gears from 2 different t-cases to build one good one and it doesn't seem to have panned out. I expected to have some noise but this seems excessive... Sounds like a Pete Jackson Gear Drive or super charger. Highway speeds for any length of time makes you want to drive off a cliff. The radio does not drown it out. I expect major whining in 4wd, since straight cut gears engage, but not in 2wd running on helical. I figured if I could find a lower mileage or unmolested rebuild with good matched gears, the noise would be less. I don't really want to install a later model New Process case.

when I still had the Rockwell in my truck, the whining would be very loud. I could still hear it when I had the radio turned up too, but I learned to live with it. Then, I ran it low on oil and burned up some bearings (I think). For the short period of time I drove it with the bad bearings, it was terrible. Then it started making the death clank, so I am currently swapping in a NP205.
I don't know if you would want to buy my transfer case, all the bearings and seals are shot. The gear oil inside is silver (but I think that is from the adaptor and coupler sleeve). There are pieces of metal and ball bearings in the bottom. BUT, all the gears seem to be in good shape. They are all original with 9X,XXX miles. I think that its rebuildable, but am not sure. I live in Ohio but I wouldn't want to ship it.

Thanks for all response. I'm not looking for a freebie here, if its a solid component that I won't need to rebuild, I'll pay what's fair.
