oh boy oh boy... where to start...
i went to Illinois to help Tim work on his truck. we installed the hydro clutch, put on the new bed, hacked the fenders a little more. made a sorry attempt at putting a stock driveshaft in it. we tried to take it down to the ditch, and get some poser pics for CK5, and in doing so (no actual "wheeling" involved mind you) pulled the front driveshaft apart. we spent the better part of this afternoon trying to rig something that would work. also installed some brake line extensions, as he made some mods to the front suspension which increased his down travel. that went rather uneventfully. i also got to use one of the tools i scored last weekend. i found a good deal on a mityvac, my neighbor had one in a garage sale for $20, so i snagged it. i dont know how i ever lived without one! |

I did truck stuff, but it was all on my new Dodge. I got a new Snugtop bedcover put on, and a lowering shackle too. Now it's a whopping 1.25" lower in the rear. Beyond that I washed trucks Saturday morning. Everything in my driveway was dirty, so they got a bath. After that I put a fresh round of weed & feed down to keep the lawn happy and healthy. My buddy came over with his pressure washing rig, and we cleaned my deck around the pool. Ok he cleaned the deck while I rubbed linseed oil on a wood bench with for a couple of hours. I can proudly say the deck and the bench look like new..... |

I rebuilt a steering column for my truck since the tilt is wobbling really bad on the one I just put in. Other than that I didnt get to mess with the truck. I took the kids rollor skateing and on the way back the tensioner pulley on the wifes FORD locked. Luckily I was within walking distance from the house and not 20 miles away. So needless to say I spent all afternoon today fixing it.

I didn't do anything on my Burb..
I bought last week a 1992 Chevy Cavalier Station-Wagon , 2.2 four cylinders , auto tranny , all options , except electric windows , in great shape for a 250€... , there was all my weekend involved , have had some electrical losses , found them... Great ride , good on gas ... but this is the wrong forum to talk about it...

Last weekend I pulled the gas tank and found MAJOR problems (rust, and gel that turned the gas bad). I pulled the tank on Saturday. So during the week I ordered a gas tank and fuel sending unit. Saturday I replaced those pieces and checked the fuel pump. It was bad, so I replaced it. Then the brand new Carb was full of the crap in the tank so I took it back to Autozone for a replacement. Yesterday afternoon I cranked the Jimmy! YIPPIE!!

I went to the Portland Swap Meet. It's the big swap meet event in the Northwest.
I picked up a complete NOS set of side trim for the Gentleman Jim for $200. You can still get most of it from GM, but it will ring out to more than $800 if you're getting a good deal. I also picked up a set of 5 15x8" 4x4 rallies for $75, a couple NOS clearance light lenses for $1 and a 86-91 GM parts catalog for $5. Not as many parts out there as the last couple years, but I still spent two full days looking. I should have had my camera and snapped some pics, but there were a few nice 73-87s for sale and one of the nicest (a lowered, red, 86 SWB) sold for $7500.

Not much truck work...other than making it work. Lots of yard work. Dang Azeleas. Cleared out the last of the trees in the areas for my new shop. Hauled trash and other debris from that tand the other spring trimmings. Oh I sprayed water on the 82 to clean off the pine pollen and dirt from all the hauling. Does that count for something??

So saturday, I get ready to go and coach...and as I'm getting gas it dawns on me...today is the 3rd of April...my autopac was due April 1st (car insurance)...whoops, better pay that NOW!
So later in the day, me and dad are working on our cars. He's cutting parts of the Mustang floor out, and getting all the new parts ready to be welded in. And I have the 'simple' task of removing the intake from the Meteor. To make a short story shorter...I have to pull the engine now. No it wasn't something I did wrong. After removing the carb and intake, since I had valve cover gaskets, I figured, may as well pop off the valve covers too and replace them now. I pop them off and take a look...why is their a milky substance in the valve covers. I ask my dad and his resonse "You're kidding right?". "Nope, here, look for yourself" I say as I hand him one of the covers. "*explicitives removed*, that means theirs moisture getting in the engine, we'll replace the head gaskets too...ah hell, we may as well pull the whole engine, we have to pull the tranny anyhow." So the bad news is, I have to pull the engine. The good news is I HAVE TO PULL THE ENGINE! That means, I get to clean and paint the engine bay, and I can detail and paint the engine. LOL, the fender won't be fixed, body won't be painted, interior not refinished...but it'll have a NICE engine bay! As for the truck...all I did on the truck was put the toolbox in the back...it took all of 10 minutes. I just had to measure, drill four holes and tighten it down...the only reason it took that long is I was being very careful I didn't scratch the paint |

Lets see I filed all my rings to .019" top and .012" bottem and attempted to use my buddys piston installer and promply broke 3 rings. Guess 1/16" rings arent so strong.... Anyways I orderd new ones, installed freeze plugs, main and rod bearings, crankshaft, finished clearencing the crank [before final assembly of course and some good scrubbing] Also mocked up the heads and relized I need one more cut to the guides before they are ready. Also checked clearences on the bearings and rod/camshaft. Dont have all the pistons in yet but so far so good.
Helped my friend strip the top end off his 5.0 to fix a water leak [his fualt, not the cars :p] Changed the belts on dads miata Also re-made my new dash top guage cluster, looks much nicer now. I made it shorter and painted it flat black, very nice. Holds my tach on the left [2 5/8"] then my air/fuel [2 1/16"] then one above another a green light for auto torque convertor lockup and one red light for manual lockup engadged, then my tranny temp [2 1/16"] and soon my oil pressure [2 5/8"] Looks really good for what limited tools and the thick arse aluminum I had to use. Almost forgot I re-set the timing and cleaned my K&N filter and got a 2mpg increase Id say it was a productive weekend.....

I drove the truck 500 miles round trip to McAllen Texas this weekend. That is the longest trip I have ever taken it on. It did really well, but only got 11 mpg. That sucks for a 305. I guess I can't expect too much out of a tired 305 with a TH350 and 3.08 gears at 70-75 mph.
The only work I did on it was gluing in the driver's side wing window with a bunch of RTV in a Wal-Mart parking lot in some small town in The Valley. I tried to open it for the first time since last Summer and it broke off in my hand at 70 mph. It was just hanging by the top hinge and flapping around in my hand. It snapped the pivot point at the bottom of the frame. Just my luck, I only have a spare for the other side... Slonaker |

I worked on finishing up my notched crossmember. I got everything tacked together so I could trial fit everything first. If it goes together correctly.... out it comes & I'll weld it up.
