Sometimes even I find a good deal
No one, and I mean No one, turns over more rocks than i do hunting for parts deals on our trucks and all i find are slugs under the rocks or Liars, until Yesterday. Me and my 10 year old son went to Maple Grove Raceway yesterday for the Spring swap meet. They had cancelled two weeks ago because of the SNOW!! still laying. well it rained the past three days here and i know MG pretty well and knew it would be bad but had no idea how BAD. Man it was mud everywhere. 25% of the people in there selling spots were stuck there , literally stuck. Anyway me and the boy found a few bargains and some stuff for the hot rod truck as he calls it , while we trudged in mud. Now on the way home I found a new U-PULL-it yard , no tools with me, but i stopped, actually i U-turned to watch an Amish hay wagon being pulled by Four huge Clydesdales and he wanted a picture then i saw the spray bombed sign for U-PULL-IT. this place was 3 times as muddy as MG but i asked the guy if i could browse and he said i close in 1/2 hour. No problem. I scope out all I can see from the back door and 30 seconds later I am shin deep in mud on my way to 10 or so73-87's I see. First an 84 black dash pad that is perfect. yep. only 3 of the lower screws still in it with 9/32 head that I work out with a taiwan version of a leatherman i bought.(Hey, I loose tools way too fast to buy good stuff) Then i find a Nice pair of the avacado colored , short style , doors panels from a 75 already off! complete with woodgrain, pouches, and arm rests. I take stuff up and he says $20. Hey what the Heck I can wash my shoes, which him and i did at the carwash while cleaning the truck.(add $8 to total). Best part is he keeps telling mom how much fun he had. It's a good ride for me but there really aren't many U-pullits around me and
yeah i'm going back soon because I saw some burgandy seat belts.

A dash for an '84, you say?
Would you be willing to part with it? How much would you ask for it? |
