Changing rear end

I bought a 307 rear end hub to hub from a guy who said it came from a late 70 chevy and it was 1/2 inch longer on each side. He also told me it was a direct bot in. Nothing needed to be changed. From my measurements my old rear is 57 inches from the back of the hub all the way across and the new one is 58. Has anyone run across this?

Thanks

70 was a transition year so there were two different lengths of axles available since the housings were different. Since you have the longer axles now, you can change to five lug axles from the 71 up rear ends if you wanted to.

So I shouldnt have any issues installing the longer rear end? Is there anything that I may need to do differently?

Thanks

Should be direct bolt in. I am not sure if the brake hose mount is different, but that could be different.
