Smog Questions 1985 Scottsdale 3/4 Ton
Ive got an 85 scottsdale 3/4 ton The truck came factory with a 454 dual pipes and no cat's But friend of mine wants to argue that it did has anyone else had or seen trucks like these without cats. Local inspection place said they failed a guys 85 once and he raised cain and ended up going to the state of texas something and got a piece of paper sayin that the 85 3/4 tons were exempt
But the truck did have two smog pumps And a EGR i have since put in a 350 and ditched the pumps and put an old intake without provision for egr Right now i know i can get a sticker im just wondering about 5-10 years from now because last year anything just about could get a sticker without a cat around here Now there acutally checking them . Anyone know about the smog laws for these heavy work trucks? |

I have owned 2 extended cab, 1 ton, duallys. Both were 454 gas. One was a 91 and the other was a 94. Here in Georgia, they both were exempt from emmissions testing because of the gross vehicle weight of the truck, and because there were not enough of these trucks produced to meet fereral emmissions regulations. I don't know if this helps or not?
I do know that my 2004 2500 is exempt for the first 3 years of operation. After that, I will have to get it inspected for emmissions.

See thats kinda the scenario that i think is going on here .. I have seen other 3/4 tons like mine that have factory duals and no cats so that doenst seem too bad im just wondering for the future cause i hate to have to put a bunch of smog crap on it Mainly cause i got some steel tube headers and i welded up the smog holes and whatnot.
Thanks for the info thou. |
