Your engine block will have a stamping on the front pass side where the head meats the block. Right on the leading edge of the block----. May need to scrape the paint or grease off a bit. The truck will have the frame stamped on the front of the drivers side of the frame---right about where the power steering pump is positioned. The frame # and the vin # should be the same.
Now for trucks----having matching numbers is not nearly as important as Corvette's where it can double the value from a restoration perspective. Quite frankly, trucks were made to be used and parts were interchanged often in 30-35 years. I guess if you are building a show truck with matching numbers and pure stock-that might be important but then again, I've personally never seen a show truck in stock form justify the high prices. But then again, I drive what I buy----and prefer getting the enjoyment out of the expereince and not the pretty thing in the garage I rarely get to use. Just my .02 --Had 56 T bird, 57 T bird, 86 Porsche 928, 88 Porsche 928S4, 97 Corvette C5, etc. and all were too pretty to drive----so now I focus on function over frills. |
