GMC truck bed - how do you know the year?

Hi Guys,

I scored a decent fleetside bed here not too long ago, but am not sure of the year. Is there a way to tell for sure?

I can add a picture, but it will be a few days before I can get to that.

Thanks for any info.

By the way, my "score" comes with a price - I'm changing my beautiful stepside into a boring fleetside

Just kidding about the "boring" but I am a little bummed, despite the $100 price for the complete fleetside bed.

Regards,
Lefty

if there are no side markers, then it is obviously a 67.
The 67 and 68 tail gates have small print for the GMC lettering.
The 69 - 72 have much larger print.
Other than that, I don't think there is any difference.

cant really think of any differences except 67 no markers, and if it has trim, whether it has 67-68 or 69-72. tail light bezels are differnt 67-68 than 69-72 also.

Good call on the trim...I'm used to no trim at all...even though the holes are there for it.
Here is the earlier tailgate. I prefer this style myself.

I believe a 71 gate would have a "disc brake" Sticker on upper left corner. Basically, no difference in box itself from 68-72.

$100 bucks?! That's a steal. Isn't the only difference between a chevy bed and a GMC bed is the tailgate?
