What Axels do I have?

I have a 70 k10. think i have a dana 44 and a 12 bolt but i wanted to confirm that. and can you get 8 lug axels for a dana 44?what gears am i most likely to have? i though 3.73's but now i'm hearing maybee 3.07's. Thanks,

if it is stock, then yes, you have a dana 44 and a 12 bolt rearend. do you have front drum brakes?

and also yes, there are dana 44 with 8 lugs...most 3/4 ton pickups had this front axle...they are basically the same as the 6 lug 1/2 ton version.

the gears depend on what engine you had originally. if it was stock with a 350, then it had 3.07. if it had a 307V8 or an inline, then it would be 3.73 stock. i think the buyer could also opt for 4.10 or 4.56, but that would have to show up on the glovebox sticker (if ya still got it). if not, then pop the diff cover off and count the gear teeth, divide the # on the ring gear by the # on the pinion.
