Even the Iraqis have taste....

Just spotted what looked to be a 70-ish red GMC stepside on the TV news in Falluja in Iraq, only trouble was it had a bunch of Iraqis in the back firing AK 47's and RPG 7's so it may have sufferd by now from a slight case of terminal tank shelling!

I wouldn't say they have taste....... Hell, I wonder if they even have brains. Hopefully that truck and all it's passengers no longer exist. (too bad for the truck).

I think it would be ok to use as the dry salt flats raceway for all those speed demons. Might need a little leveling with a dozer though.

How about a nice city size parking lot-then they could park their Toyota" personal" carriers, Toyota" anti-tank machines", Toyota "Her-mers", Toyota "hearses", Toyota orange and white taxis.

It's funny how we all feel the same way , but because of the press and the constant second guessing ,we are fighting a Politically correct Battle ( If it was a real War we would have leveled the place by now ) .Which is causing the loss of our troops .
They dislike ( Hate) us now so just get it over with and the hell with political correctness .JMO

Bill, there's a lot more of them that like us than hate us. The media just puts that slant to it. Talk to servicemen who have come back, they'll tell it like it is.

I agree witht he former comments, it's unfortunate that 90% of what you read or watch is obviously slanted.

One way to find out...join the Marines. Sounds as if there are a lot of armchair marines these days.
Unless they've been there people are talking out their ass, no matter what their slant. As it stands reporters in Iraq undoubtably understand the situation better than anyone here does. IMO.

Spoof I don't get your comment about the armchair marines.....I'll take it as a good one though hopefully. Anyway I"m active duty Marine Corps and I was there for the actual War part. Then it was free game. You seen the enemy you shoot his Arse. Now it's a political chess game. As I always say "Political correctness sucks and it just costs lifes." The Iraqi's are using this political correctness against us by holing up in Mosques. When they fire we can fire back but word gets out when you shoot at a mosque pretty quick so the next thing you know you got a lot of pissed off Muslim's yelling Jihad just cause a couple little terrorist nazi's decide to fight like women and take pop shots from a mosque. Everyday I read the news about Marines and servicemembers being killed and it just makes me want to go back even more. I was supposed to go back but I had already gotten order to go to OKC and you can't get double orders so I didn't go. Everybodies screaming for extra troops. I don't know about everybody else but my shop went from about 40 people to now 8. We have people in Afghanistan, Iraq, Haiti and now we're sending more to.....well thats besides the point. I'm a HMMWV mechanic and no official grunt so this just tells you how dang stretched out the Marine Corps is. Just had to vent some thanks all

I know what you mean. I'm active army and just got back about a week ago and part of me wants to go back out now. We are already supposed to go back next year so I guess I will get my wish. I met alot of Iraqis out there and about 95% of them were glad we were there and Saddam was gone. That other 5% are the ones on the news everyday. Fallujia IMO should just get leveled. We were about 60 miles west of there and at one point had one of our squardrons based there before the 82nd took over and we lost alot of good soldiers in that town.

Spoof,
I really hope your not refering to me as an "Armchair Marine". I spent five years in the Marine Corps and just got out in January. I was in Kuwait in Jan. and Feb. and was one of the first to go across when the $hit hit the fan. I lost a good friend when I was there and a few more people I know. I had to hold my friend, who I worked with everday, slept2 feet away from, and talked about our wives and kids with when we were on watch together, in my arms as he died. Everyday I hear the news and want to go reenlist. Not because I particularly car for the Iraqi people anymore (they are starting to feel very two-faced, namely the Shi'ites, who were banished by Saddam and starving when we got there, and now don't like Americans becauase they feel they are not getting represented thoroughly enough in the new government), but because I want to be there for my fellow Marines. I want to watch their back! I don't know if you have ever experienced that type of esprit de corp or camradery, but don't insult me by saying things like "armchair Marine". I think I've earned my right to speak.

Boy, this thread has changed from the original topic. As I was reading down the posts and listening to the radio, just as I started reading WRMZ71's post lee greenwoods song Proud to be an American came on, that was good background music for those posts following. To all who have served and are serving, Thank You. I got a little taste of some of the crap our soldiers are going through over there yesterday. One of our technicians at work was called active, and he calls every couple of weeks, yesterday he calls to check some prices for parts, we are talking and a whole crapload of noise starts up in the background. I said what the H#&* is that? He says "oh were taking some shells again", just like I tell my wife I'm taking the trash out. No big deal to him but it kinda freaked me out and made me think about how much you guys are going through over there. Once again, to all that have been or are over there - Thank You.
Sorry for the long post - Curtis
