What are you trying to acclomplish? Do you want to go fast from a dead stop? Do you want to have good top end? Do you want a good all around gear?

3.50-3.73 gears are good all around gears, they let you cruise on the hwy at decent rpm's while giving you good take off.

I am running 4.10 gears, but I also have a 700r4. I will have excellent acceleration, but at the same time my rpm's will be manageable on the hwy...unlike before when I had a th350.

BUT WHAT DO YOU WANT? acceleration, top end, or somewhere in the middle?

acceleration = 3.73 and down (numerically up)

both = 3.23-3.73 or so

top end = 3.23 and up (numerically down)

I bet with your 2.73's you would have real nice top end.

Be careful, you will have to set up the gears twice if you put them on the stock carrier and then a posi (I'm assuming an eaton or something) Setting up a set of gears which has run on a different carrier can sometimes be difficult. So save up and do it all at once.
