Options in 77
I just got my new parts truck home and have a few questions for the experts. It's a 77 Cheyenne with later model interior and bed that was hit hard on the front. The frame and front clip are junk, but it has a loaded rustfree cab and bed. The dash pad is 81-87 and the seat is a either 81-87 or 88 and later.
How rare or desirable is the factory AM/FM/CB radio option? I've never seen one before, didn't know they even existed. This has a 40 channel CB built into the normal Delco radio. Seems to work, but the only antenna it has is in the windshield. Should a 77 have a voltmeter or ammeter? This one has a voltmeter. How many leaves do the heavy rear springs normally have. This has 7 or 8 plus the helper. The top of the bed hits me about chest high. I almost hate to part this thing out, but it's a longbed, so I don't feel quite so bad. |

77 will have a voltmeter..
ive never seen the am/fm/cb option either! pretty neat, dont destroy it, keep it or ebay it... it will only go up in value from this day forward as for the spring count, dunno.. it was at least 6 or 7.. i have pics of both 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton rear springs here somewhere but they're both 4x4. let me know if you wanna see (They're both OE on '77s) Too bad you arent closer to california. I would be on that parts cab in a hot second. mike |

my grandpa's '77 K20 plow truck has the Delco AM/FM/CB. it doesnt work, but its all still there. since my grandpa is gone, i'd be willing to bet that when my grandma decides to get rid of the truck, i'll likely have first dibs on it. i've already got a plan in my head for it. grandpa didnt like heavily modified trucks, so if it ends up in my posession, it will get restored to stock, including the radio. does anyone know of a place where one could get such an item refinished?

No it was an Ebay find. My neighbors were estatic to see the tow truck coming down our street for the second time in a month. I sold my shortbed chassis to a neighbor and got it moved to his house about 30 minutes before the 77 showed up.
