Need help with Clutch install

This should be a fairly simple question to answer. I'm putting the new clutch in and am at the point of reattaching the clutch fork and installing the new throwout bearing to it. The question is: does the bearing just sit in the fork, or is there supposed to be some spring or retainer or something that holds the bearing on the fork? The old one had no such thing and was just resting in the fork. The reason I ask is because all the manuals are mentioning a retainer.
Any help is very much appreciated.

I just had a look at my old fork off my 74 Vette. It does have a spring type retainer on the backside that holds it onto the swivel ball, and it extends into the fork as well. I would think you would have that or it would fall off the swivel. You want a pic?

I would replace a 30 year old fork anyways. They will wear, and be sloppy.

Thanks for the response. I would like a pic if you are able. I know there is a spring retainer to hold the fork to the bellhousing. referencing the LMC catalogue, there doesn't appear to be another spring at the fork end, but I'm still not sure.
Looking forward to the picture.
Thanks alot.

The above pictures are for a 74 Corvette. Truck stuff may be different.

Skid is correct, there is NO spring or anything which attaches the throwout bearing to the fork.

The fork is fastened to the ball stud, and the shape of the throwout prevents it from coming off the fork without the fork travelling outwards off of the ball stud.
