Fair market value?

Came across a 68 GMC yesterday. Seller is asking 2800. Specs are 3/4 ton, 396, 4 speed, power drums, power steering, add on AC, tach dash, about 500 miles on some Les Swab 235/85r 16s, holley 750, and 95k original miles, and 3 fuel tanks. Body hasn't any rust in the floor or the rockers that I can see, and is reasonable straight. Guy he bought it from had a camper on it for years so the bed is straight on the inside. Offered him 2k cash, he is holding out for 2500. Any thoughts? I still may jump on it today.

Sounds like a pretty good deal. Wave some $100 bills under his nose. Maybe he'll take it.

If you really want it, I would not wait to long. You might end up kicking yourself. Sounds like a nice truck.

that 396 isn't original, probably had a 305 V6 from the factory...but still sounds like a good deal.

That is what I originally thought, but the 396 is orig. looked on the glove box. Also has 396 turbojet emblems on the front fenders. I talked to him earlier today, gonna test drive it tomorrow. I think I will wave 2300 cash under his nose and see if he bites.

interesting...i'd like to see pics of that...

it must be a COPO, I don't think any V8's were available in '68 GMC K/2500's.

Well-drove it tonite runs out nice steering tight, good brakes, lots of power. Update he held out for 2500. I gave him a deposit to hold it AND it has a 435 trans.[heard about them but never seen one till now] Talk about an odd ball drive train, but it is all factory.

Talk about a big D O H I forgot the d-cam
