my bed floors are rotten bigtime in the usual places. I'm thinking I'll make one good bed floor out of two. Both of my beds are rotten in the same places. I'll cut out the rotten strips & take good strips from the non-rotten sections of the other bed. What ya think? good idea? lots of work i realize but good bedfloors here are too hard to find. what do you all think? too much work? suggestions?

if you have the tools and the know how go for it good idea if you have enough good pieces

Its not all that hard to do. I laid down a piece of duct tape, made triple sure that my line was straight and square and went to it with the sawzall. One thing that I didnt have then that I would recommend are the panel holding clamps for holding the sheet metal in place right. They are in the eastwood catalog but I got some off of ebay for half the price. The whole job will take a couple weeks. Flap discs for grinding down the welds are another must.

Another thing, when I used floors from 2 different trucks I found that that the ribs didnt line up perfect as it did when I sectioned the other end of the bed but it isnt that much of a difference but you want to keep an eye on that, it might make some troubles for you.

Ouch, I just cut up a decent bed floor and threw it in the recycle bin. I posted here and nobody wanted it, or the bed side, for free even. Don't mean to make you upset or anything, guess it just shows that one mans trash...

Beware of the bed patch panels that many of the suppliers offer. I purchase a couple from LMC and when I started trying to install them in the bed of my blazer to repair a rust area, I found that the ribs didn't match up. I was able to coax them into fitting with a hammer, but if you try to do a large area, you will have problems getting things lined up.

I'm really surprised that none of the suppliers offer a full bed floor replacement kit. You would think that someone would at least make one for a long bed, then you could cut it to size for other applications, as needed.....Just my $0.02
