front suspension?
Now I know this has probably been asked before but I needed a bit of info.
I currently have a 69 with drums up front and 6 bolt. I want to convert to PB and discs up front. I have a 78 ( front suspension) and an 83 Chevy truck that I can get parts from. Do I need the entire front suspension off one of them or can I take only a couple parts to be able to use the front spindles so I can use the disc brakes. I don't really care if it stays 6 bolt or goes to 5 at this point. I know i is supposed to be fairly simple to swap the entire front cross member but I was just curious what my be plan of attack would be.

Being here doing that..Mine's a 70', with a donor 81 pickup..
Currently I'm swapping out the old A arms for the 81 parts, and I'll use the disc brake spindle ..Supposedly the balljoints to fit the 70 A arm are more expensive and smaller.. I was going to do the crossmember, but when buddy dropped the parts off, he had only brought the A arm assembly..The crossmember does swap right onto the old frame , however.. Other issue you'll run into is mating tie rods, etc from old to new, but if you make sure and get EVERYTHING for steering and braking off the donor truck, you can save yourself a lot of problems.

yes it has been asked before, and I am in the middle of switching also. actually from 8 lugs to 5 or 6 lugs. but today I found a jag irs! so looks like just dropped spindles, and rotors for the front. and a few upgrades for the rear.
