a DIFFERENT airbag question!
I was wondering what headers or manifolds you guys are using that are laying frame. I need to replace my stock manifolds and want to be able to bag my truck at a later date and not have to worry about the exhaust hitting the ground. Right now I am considering either Early Classic's Headers or a replacement type header for the 88-98 Chevy trucks. If any of you guys know of a full-length header that would have enough clearance, I'd love to hear about them. As always ANY suggestions will be helpful in making my decision.

i dont know about the 67-72s, but i believe chevelle headers fit the 73-87s if you must go with long tubes.. though shorties would be fine.

Which truck are you talking about bagging? the 70 or the 2000?
EDIT: Nevermind the above, I see you are using 2000 seats in your 70. In either case I am fairly certain that none of the regular headers will give you the desired clearance on a bagged truck to lay frame without hitting the exhaust. Maybe those Edelbrock TES headers, but I don't know. And the edelbrocks aren't your standard long-tube, kinda in between a shorty style (block hugger type) and long tube. I know someone with a pair of chrome block huggers for sale that they aren't using, but I think they hit the starter so you'd have to use one of those gear reduction mini-starters or something to use them. Not sure of the solution, just know they didn't fit his 94 extended cab without hitting something. They look nice though.

headers
I'm using '70-'81 Camaro shorties. They clear everthing pretty good. Also went w/ ceramic coated. I haven't installed mine in truck yet but my buddy Matt used them on his '69 and they worked good.

I tried using some long tube headers from a 74-79 (can't remember exact year) Camaro on my 84 GMC C10 and they would not clear the frame on one side.
don't know about shorties. I would think they'd fit just about anything though.

If anyone else wants the part number for a mid-length header that is $130 cheaper than ECE's and look very similar it is # 289-86118 in JEG's and Part # WLK-86118 in Summit. Thanks for all of you guys help, I think I found what I need.

dynomax 289-86118, its a 3/4 lenght header and my exhaust is all above the frame rail, ill get pictures later.

smbrouss yeah that's the truck I was talking about, I did all the body and paint work on it for him. It's a nice truck and the headers fit well w/ just very little grinding on the right engine mount stand, you just have to grind a small hump off it for them not to touch. They are 3/4 length I just call them shorties.

That is a nice truck, you did good work. I figured something would have to be ground down for them to fit good, but thanks for the heads-up. lost wages, Is that your truck in your avatar? I put the 67-68 front end on my 70 and am considering painting it silver. Could you send me a couple of pictures of it so I can see it better? My e-mail is smbrouss@bellsouth.net, Thanks.
