2wd Blazer Curb Weight

Guys with 2wd blazers....those of you who've scaled them...what do they weigh? What kind of weight split?

I've searched online for weights, but the weights I've found for 69-72 blazers, it's never clear if it's for a 4x4 or 2wd...etc.

So what does your blazer weigh?
What engine and trans?
Single or double wall top?

Thanks.

Re: 2wd Blazer Curb Weight

I "think" the 2x4's weigh around 3750 lbs and the 4x4's weigh around 4100 lbs. I can't speak to how much the other stuff weighs.

I'll try to get mine by the feed mill here soon and let you know. It's a 2wd, 350 , saginaw 4-speed, double wall top, full interior.

I can tell you my 72 4x4 with a single wall top, a 6.0 LS swap with a 4L60E, 33" tires on aluminum wheels, air conditioning, factory style roll bar, and a full 20 gallon tank of gas scaled exactly 4,760 lbs. without me in it. That's with the spare tire and jack equipment in place.

They aren't featherweights by any means, and I removed some weight with the LS swap.

Yikes, lol. That's a heavy bugger. My '70 4x4 with the big block and double wall top weighed in over 5000 lbs when I had it on the grain scale a few years ago. Hoping to get my 2wd with LS and full aftermarket suspension down under 3500.

Yeah it's definately not light, and I took 120 lbs. out of it with the LS swap, but I didn't weigh the transmissions, and I'm sure the 4L60 is slightly heavier than the 350 turbo so that may have countered it a bit.

The front diff/driveshaft and cast iron 205 case adds some weight over a 2WD model, but getting it under 3500 will be a chore. I'd like to hear how that goes for you, please keep us updated.

My 82 Jeep Scrambler which isn't much sheetmetal even though it's longer than a regular CJ, full soft top, half doors with soft side windows, bucket front seats and a rear seat added, no carpet in the back (just bedlined), aluminum wheels with 32" tires, a 350 LT1 swap with a 4L60E, and even that scaled exactly 3500 lbs. without a driver. And that's really not alot of vehicle, pretty bare bones really with just a heater.

Re: 2wd Blazer Curb Weight

Yeah, i'll keep you updated once it's on the road. I'm going LS, aluminum wheels, single wall top, porterbuilt rear suspension with coilovers, and no limit front IFS with coilovers. Rob at no limit says the aftermarket IFS is ~100 lbs less than the factory 2wd IFS.

Of course the turbo setup adds a decent amount of weight. We'll have to see.

Sounds cool, the lighter the better

Is it getting painted? I'm going to tear mine down for paint, and I have really been wanting fiberglass bolt on fenders and hood that functions with a factory latch. Would even love a fiberglass tailgate if it worked with the factory latch. A little work to make it all look as it should and no one would be the wiser

Don't know of anyone making stuff like that for these though unfortunately, but I'd do it if it was out there.
