Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Before you pull the trans lets talk and I will come up and give you a hand and pull the front sheet metal off so you don't scratch that cab bottom. Get a hold of me after the 1st of the year and I will bring your X-mass gift to you in the form of 2 hands (for truck use only!) for the day!

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Finally we made some progress. Kevin came by today and we pull off the dog house, removed the th350 transmission. Which I must say I'm glad we did because Kevin noticed that the flex plate was bent. We replace the flex plate and then install the new 700r4. There is an issue with the Early Classic transmission cross member doesn't quite meet up with the transmission mount.
While the fenders were off Kevin sorted out the AC and Heater hose issue at the bulk head fitting. We then put the dog house back on. Kevin re-aligned the front sheet metal and installed the inner fender wells. We got a lot done in about 9 hours.

Hey...something fishy is going on there, are you sure Kevin is working? He does not seem to have moved in any one of the pics. Could he be sleeping under there? lol
Glad to see you getting back on this truck, looks like you guys got a few more things crossed off the list, keep at it!

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Today I lined up my Early Classic 700r4 transmission cross member and marked the spots where I need to drill holes.
I also test fitted the LFD's gas pedal adapters (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=371099 ) . I noticed that my 71 pedal assembly has a large cover plate/bracket. I'm not sure if I will need it. Looking at Kevin's thread about the adapter I believe I can cut it off at the top. Once I know for sure I will pull it off, through some paint on it, remove some sound dampener from the fire wall and drill a hole for the throttle cable.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
No. They are painted the same color as the block. I had a set powder coated but the thickness of the coating prevented them from moving. So for that reason I could not use them.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Man that stinks about not being able to use powdercoated hood hinges. I was thinking about getting mine done, I'm glad I could learn about this before hand. (thanks jugernot) I wonder if the powder coat guy would know that this would be an issue and warn a customer?

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Wow I was in the process of powder coating my hood hinges. So that's not a good idea? Or did they just coat yours too much?

just got my hinges back from the powder coater today and they work fine. I just pulled the springs off and had to break them loose again. Look and work great

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
I received some parts this week and may try figure where I should put them on the frame. I'm thinking of putting the tanks under the cab and the compressors just behind the tanks. I'm not sure where I'm going to put the air valves, maybe on one of the cross members. I may ditch the plastic line and go with hard lines.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
I had a few hours to spare, so I went into the garage and mocked up the tank and compressor on the driver’s side. I made some templates so the passenger side install should go a bit quicker. I'm thinking of splitting the Big Red valve unit into two pieces, one on each side of the frame near the tank and compressor. I plan on running a line connecting the two tanks together, just in case one of the compressors fails.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
I use standard brake lines and the fittings are pipe on one side and flare on the other for the brake line.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
Well lately it seems like I've been fighting a uphill battle with Lemon Drop. So today when someone was drove by and made me an offer, well I could not refuse. The wife is happy that she can now park her car in the garage. At least until i find a vehicle that is complete and running order.

Re: Project Lemon Drop: anything but stock!
What do you plan on getting next? Was this for sale or did someone just see it from the road and ask about it?
