They are strong.

Originally pickup trucks were "work" vehicles and believe it or not they were only popular with people who needed a Work vehicle. Soccer moms didn't drive them, Very few young people hot rodded them and again believe it or not, riding around in a pickup was not a statement except that you were a blue collar worker. It really wasn't until the mid 70's that the pickup became the foo-foo vehicle that it is now. I remember seeing my dad, who was around 250 lbs stand on the running board of his early 50's truck and pick up a full milk can, swing it into the bed, time after time--day after day. With all that trivia said----Yes, the steps are strong.
