So the paint you guys are using... is it made for heat or does it not matter.

Re: Painiting My LSx

I used Duplicolor engine paint on mine, has held up great over the last 3 years. Chevy orange/red on the block & valvecovers and ceramic silver on the intake, waterpump & accessories.

I would use some form of "High Heat" paint. Whether in a can or a little higher end paint (POR 15, Motor Coater, etc). As long as your cleaning process/prep is good, they will last.

How well does the paint hold up on those F.A.S.T rails? I have the LSXRT with red anodized rails, and the red anodizing does not match a damn thing in my engine bay.

Those rails are actually from Speed Inc and are clear anodized aluminum, not painted. You can remove the red anodizing from your rails with oven cleaner, then polish the aluminum to a nice finish. Be careful with the oven cleaner as it can start eating into aluminum if left on too long.

5.3 with LS6 intake and C5 FEAD
top is Hemi orange, pan is Chevy Orange and block is plain gloss black, all paints were rated for 500 degrees but I used a 1200 degree clear coat after.

Re: Painiting My LSx

Yeah, I like a lot of things about it. I know there is mixed reviews on it, but it completes the look I am going for. My interpretation of a NASCAR, racing type of look. Well see how it comes out and how it the Atomic will perform.

Have you gotten to drive your truck yet? Was wondering how the new tranny is working for you.

Not yet...had a dbw pedal problem. Got a new pedal today and all is well, codes seem to be clear. I hope to get some miles in tomorrow...if I'm lucky maybe even a pass or two! I'll try and remember the gopro!

Re: Painiting My LSx

Sorry for the late response 68stepbed, the valve covers are from Katech. Great product. A little pricey but nice none the less.
