Re: Need Gear Vendors OD Dimensions
I put one in my suburban. I have had a lot of problems specifically with vibration that I cant get fully resolved I believe it inside the unit. The unit is week in reverse something I didn't know until after I installed it.
If I was to do it again I would use a 4l80E. Just put it in drive and go. We put a 4l80 in my dads 1973 2wd 2500 behind a big block using the TCI controller. It works amazing

Re: Need Gear Vendors OD Dimensions
I had vibration with the GV unit in mine until I took the truck to a shop specializing in drive lines. The PO never had the drive shaft rebalanced, and the driveshaft was intermittently making contact with a support brace that was welded in place to support the dump conversion hoist I had installed.

Re: Need Gear Vendors OD Dimensions
I have had 2 shafts built trying to correct this problem. Along with a complete rear end rebuild including checking the run out of the new moser axles.. I checked the pinion angle myself then paid a very high end shop to verify my angles were correct. They sent out the first shaft to there preferred drive line shop and had it re balanced still vibrated. I then I had a new shaft built still vibrated above 70 mph . When I was on a trip in the summer I had the 2nd shaft re balanced in that got it a little different but continued to have vibration problem.
I will make one more attempt at correcting this by taking the original shaft 2 piece shaft and having it cut down to the 55" total length. If that does not work I will toss it in the trash and stick a 4L80E in its place.
