Re: Houndstooth seat question.
That black seat is the type that came in all 69/70 "Customs" and 71/72 "Custom Deluxes".GM came out with an Option Group offering in late`72 known as the Highlander A,B,and C package. They took the same seat and used one of four plaid cloth inserts to match the body color. All the vinyl was Parchment (off white).
The 69/70 CST and 71/72 Cheyenne seat covers (all vinyl) have the scroll in the insert in that seating area, not in the area between the two sides. There`s no scroll on the Cheyenne Super seats that are Houndstooth.

Re: Houndstooth seat question.
Waiting to see that SPID pic, The tach and gauge cluster (U16 and Z53) options are 2 different options and a SPID (at least all I have ever seen) always list one or the other. Never seen one with the vacuum gauge listed either.
Interesting. Jeff

Re: Houndstooth seat question.
my dad's 72 burb was one of those special packages...looked just like the one in the brochure. mariner blue with white roof, 350/350 with 3.73 rear, tinted windows, tilt wheel, front a/c, 6 passenger white vinyl with blue/black paid inserts, full trim package, overload 1/2 leaf rear springs, etc. my dad has told me several times that it was a special demo upgrade on top of the standard custom deluxe trim. in contrast, the 84 burb custom deluxe he had afterwards had an overdrive trans and 9 passenger seating but was sadly lacking otherwise.
i have the chrome yankee cab lights saved from the truck back in '95 when we found it in a local salvage yard (my dad sold it in '91). i plan to install those and a recently acquired pair of shorty arm tripod mirrors like my 72 dad's burb had had because they combine sleek mounting with the big 7.5x10.5 head you get with towing mirrors. so it appears my 72 burb has the blue on blue houndstooth (not to be confused with plaid). anyone know of a source for that material. figured it might be cheaper to just get my front seat upholstery repaired rather than dish out 350 bucks for a whole new seat cover? |
