Re: specialty insurance
Here in Tn they just finally last week started the insurance requirements that most states including Fl have had for decades . Get pulled over and they can check right there on the spot if your current ,If not they will impound your car/truck and take you to jail . You would not believe how many people here don't even have a DL let alone insurance . Good insurance is a must .
Something tells me there are going to be a large influx of vehicles at the Sheriffs sale at govdeals.com site in TN . |

Re: specialty insurance
I drive my truck to work on Fridays, struck out with Hagerty there too. I only have liability since the blue book on any old vehicle is almost nothing.

Re: specialty insurance
That might work in Dawsonville but won't work in most cities. I live in Sugar Hill GA and it won't work here.

Yeah I was talking about town laws as to what can be made into a garage.

Re: specialty insurance
Here in Michigan since they are located in traverse city Michigan, I was asked about engine mods, garage, historical plates, miles . yup just got my renewal in the mail and it very simply states garage, pole barn , barn. also if you look at your declarations page it says underwritten by essentia insurance company.

Every year they send out the full disclosure of their policy and it clearly states what is required. I honestly hope you don't ever need to make a claim, because if you think your agent will be on the hook for a denied claim payout.... You're in for a rude awakening Hopefully you take care of this immediately and don't wait until next year. Either way, good luck.

As you can see, your options are, so far, slim. One gent mentioned a commercial storage unit but they can be quite costly... 250 sq. ft. here in Seattle is running close to $300/mo. Years ago I insured a building through Lloyds of London due to the age and construction of the building. You may want to contact them or another broker like them and see what they say. Is fleet insurance an option? Rental of a private residential garage? Subscribed.

Re: specialty insurance
Thanx for all your input.
I found this in a thread on another site: "Well, I think I've found my answer. I talked with an agent who works with several insurance companies and Atlantic Mutual will write me an agreed value policy that has no garage, usage, or mileage restrictions. The agreed value will need to be based on a certified appraisal and everything will need to be documented (which is no problem for me)." I will call tomorrow, see what's up. |

Re: specialty insurance
Good deal Dave (hopefully).
I'm sure, considering how affordable these policies are, many here would have an interest in their response.

You don't want to find out that agreed value is cut by a 3rd or more because of this metric . |

When I used to get my insurance based on those terms, the coverage was there, but the cost was actually more expensive than regular insurance and it did have depreciation built in, year after year, if I didn't get it re-appraised each time. Even with all that, it was still worth the extra money it cost me, because when a guy blew through a stop sign and totaled my 1969 Camaro one night, I got full value. Good luck and hope you get what you need

Re: specialty insurance
I called Atlantic Mutual 4 times today over a period of a couple of hours. Got the machine saying they were busy with other customers and call back each time.
Not a good sign, if I were trying to make a claim, I would be pissed. The search continues. |
