Thanks for the compliments! When I have people like you and James and Heath saying that, it must be coming out alright for my first build. That scoop was a true brainfart, but I must say it was a cool idea and I thought it would be original. Gotta figure out a good way to attach it to make it look like it's "floating" on top of the motor.

David, what are you using for an air cleaner. that will really make or break the bank for mounting it.

I am using a 6.5 inch round Mr. Gasket that I will probably have to cut down about 1 inch (maybe). The scoop is about 2.5 inches from the top to bottom and the cleaner is about 4 inches tall. The scoop is about 14 inches wide. I am thinking of using a little longer stud for my carb and making 2 braces one for the front and back that will hold the scoop just about .25 of an inch above the air cleaner. Bolting it to the carb studs should be sturdy and installing and removing should not be too hard.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

David, have you thought about using one of those flat K&N styles out of a new car, like 10" by 16" by 1", building a base and cover for it then mounting the scoop on it. This would give you more air into the engine. just a thought, I have always had bad luck with those little air cleaners. what do you think?

Thanks! I wish it was soon, but still looks like about 3 months or so if no bad luck.

I appreciate it! The camera just doesn't pick up the true colors on this truck, may have to let someone who knows what they are doing take some pics.

That is like an old Cobra style air filter right, kind of oblong? That was my first thought and may still go that route. You are right on the small filters, I don't like them either. I will check into the K&N tomorrow!!! Thanks for the thoughts, I need em!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Not the update that I wanted to give, expected to hear the motor crank for the first time. I did get a couple of other things done though. My intake is now installed along with some of the wiring under the dash. Got a new swivel water neck installed and painted a few parts like the transmission cover and the flex plate cover with krinkle black paint. Also installed a new trans filter. I also got the starter installed with a slight trim job on the flywheel cover. Didn't get enough done this weekend.....I'll try harder next weekend!
