Re: 72 2wd blazer build
I've always wondered why more people don't raise the wheel wells like that rather than use those lame store bought round tubs. The raised wheel wells look so much better in the bed IMO.

Re: 72 2wd blazer build
Here are a couple of teaser pics. Raising the stock wheel wells has turned out to be alot more work than I originally thought, But I am getting a little closer to being finished.

Damn that looks Nasty clean! What are the specs on the wheels and did you cut any of the floor towards the frame for the 22x10's

Re: 72 2wd blazer build
No I didnt have to cut anything on the inside, but I will tell you that a 22x10 is a really tight fit. I actually might have to narrow the rearend slightly. When I measured for the wheels I was concerned with rubbing on the lip of the wheelwell, well I have clearance there( after some creative rolling) but it looks like with a tire on it it may rub the the quarterpanel where it rolls in at the top......only if I were t drive it at full dump.........would I ever do that?????? probably
and thats a 55 dash, but not for long Last edited by bagged74; 07-11-2007 at 12:13 AM. |

Re: 72 2wd blazer build
Remove your wheel tub and then grind out the spot welds of the inner quarter panel in there and make it flat and then a small arch at the top so the tire will not rub on the inner "filler" of the quarter panel. Try that and see if it works for you.

Re: 72 2wd blazer build
The mock-up pics look awesome! For some reason this is the part of building these things that I like the most... once they're all done and shiny you can't see all of the cool, hard work that went into them (at least most people can't). BTW that dash is going to look GREAT in there!

Re: 72 2wd blazer build
Yup, looks like that is not going to work. Could you send the rear wheels back and go 5.5 on the backspacing?

It will work, I have a plan. I would rather not send them back I LOVE the look of the deep lip on that wheel. |

Re: 72 2wd blazer build
I cant confiirm it till tomorrow, but Im almost positive that an earlier 6 lug housing is about 1"-1.5" narrower. I have one over at my dads shop. I will measure it tomorrow, if so I will buy new axles or redrill to 5x5
The easier solution would be to order the right backspacing from the get-go, but that would be way too easy for a guy like me. The 5" backspacing would actually work if my truck wasnt as low, it would be fine with a bolt-in notch. |

Re: 72 2wd blazer build
If you do not mind post if that is true and I will just finish building the posi unit rear end for my blazer and throw it under my truck.

Also true. I'm running a 20x10 with 295s and it is OK with c-notch.

I think it would really be something if all the 2wd blazer people got together for a cruise and a few pics. |
