Case by case basis. I'd help a boardmember out if he was up $hit creek without a paddle. Say he was needin a distributer so he could get back and forth to work. A trinket though... A chrome anything. Nope. He wants it doesn't "need" it. Then it would be pics sent and cash up front.

Thanks, it was really great to meet you! I've met alot of great people on this board in person from wheeling and dealing, when it come to finding the right parts this board is as far as I have to look. When we deal here, we're dealing with friends and that sure beats ordering from catalog (and customer service has never even changed a spark plug)

Last time I checked you can not get services rendered without paying for them before you pick up your truck or buy groceries at the store before paying for them first. Just about every business in America these days you pay for the product before you receive delivery of the goods.

I've sold alot over the years and have bought alot also and the only problem I've had was with 2 guys that have been banned and it really worked out in the long run anyway! Total POST mean alot to me,I read alot more than I post so I have a good idear on who is who in our forum. My hat goes off to guys like Teeitup, junkyardjohn,Tim Christian,Longhornman and there are so many others I could go on and on! Good communacation is the best KEY here, send the funds promplt when buying and when selling and funds arrive have the product ready to go out and let the buyer know your sending it out with a PM or email also include that tracking # Anyone that has delt with me will tell you I ship QUICK!!!!!!!!

Case by case seems reasonable...but I can completely understand the "Gut Feeling" statement. Sometimes you just have a good feeling about something or you just don't.

Case by case here also. I just shipped out 3 carbs and only had money for 2, but I only wanted to make one trip to fedex so I sent it. Heck the 72 C30 in my yard now is only half paid for.

Guys I work with think I'm nuts for buyin' stuff off the net, most from here. I've bought and sold with 10 or so. And haven't got burnt yet, and would trust some that I haven't. It's a gut feelin' and trust.

I am normally kinda cautious, i have been taken, like above, even by family. (Father in law took me for over a grand about 10 years ago)
As mentioned in this thread, i will do it for some ppl, I have sent stuff out with the buyer not even knowing it, and suprised ppl with stuff for no charge. And yes, as Ron said....I did get my money.
However, even with the little stupid items that don't cost much, I hesitate on shipping before payment.
All the glove box lights I've sold on here...I know it is well over 100, every time I put some up for sale, AT LEAST one person doesn't send money. Sometimes they swear up and down that they did. I k ow the USPS screws things up, but sometimes it seems like too many ppl are getting mail lost. (Even had one guy try that 2 times on me)

Judgement call...like everyone else says.

I'm one of those guys that is usually on the other end,,buying.Have bought from a few board members.I am one of those guys that is a payment type of guy.I could buy the item out right, but for some reason if I make payments on it, seems like I did not put out that much..$$$$ I guess you just have to have a gut feeling and trust your judgement and hope that person is a man of his word.... Ok.now any one have a nice tach for sale dash on the installment plan...............

I think the best solution is to give the buyer a little bit of time to get "all" the money together. I have done this a couple of times and it worked both ways. Once the buyer backed out on the deal. Another time the buyer came through. Either way I still had the parts in hand until I got all the money. I feel it's better safe than sorry....
